What is expected from the following Brief OUGD504 'Design Production'

The following module will be split into two:

- Design for print

- Deign for screen 

I will need to develop an individual concept for a publication based around my taken photos of type in context in Blackpool. However, this does not have to be based solely on the type itself. It could be in relation to issues, celebrations, new audiences, history people etc.

- Think about the productive value 

- Research slanted magazine 

- Make informed decisions 

- Develop appropriate strategies 

- Challenge boundaries 

- To hit high grades focus on the learning outcome

- The brief is self directed 

BLOG EVERYTHING !

Experiment in different, interesting ways such as book binding, foiling, embossing 

Research into book design, marketing, production methods techniques.

Production Considerations: 

- Stock 

- Printed method 

- Binding methods 

- Mock ups/ experiments (evaluate them) 

- Finishes 

- Consider commercial considerations VS access to resources 

- Preparing documents to be sent to print. Considerations in regards to print methods. Digital/ offset 

What is compulsory to be handed in: 

1. Studio practice blogs - OUGD504 

2. Design Boards (6) Rationale, Research, Initial ideas, Development, Final Outcome, Evaluation 

3. Finished Outcomes-finished publication and digital mock ups/ experiments

4. Written summative evaluation

- Develop a concept / rationale for your publication

- Other than type and context what else is needed to fulfil your set brief? 

- Think about additional context you may need to gather
