Final book covers

Tamara Mellon ‘In My Shoes’ reinforces the title by using a scanned image of a casual, converse shoe as the background image over the front and back cover of the book. This reflets Mellon’s casual, rough early life before her success. It also portrays that her lifestyle was not as glamorous as it seemed in order for her to become successful and be the co founder of Jimmy Choo. Although she produced high end, glamorous, costly shoes her life was not all that way within her hardworking, devoted career. The image of the shoe on the cover looks almost 3D to reflect the idea of the reader almost literally walking in Tamara Mellon’s shoes- as they read the book about her life. A more obvious approach has also been taken when placing the title of the book inside of the shoe. This looks almost like the brand/ label of the shoe to represent Mellon having a shoes brand.

Alexa Chung IT features a soft pink, scrunched T Shirt to reflect the idea of Alexa Chung being a clothes lover and model. She is also well known for her casual style.  Alexa recently has also introduced her new range of ‘slogan t-shirts’. Therefore, the background relates to this.
Sophia Amoruso dropped her education, lived life in a run down flat and scrounge around for a long period of her younger life, whilst being very poor. However, one day she reluctantly discovered a vintage leather jacket in a local store which she purchased for very little. She then put the jacket on ebay and made her first small fortune. This was the motivation and adrenaline rush she needed to start her own business. This then became a habit and lead Sophia to become one of the fastest growing retailers in the world being the co founder of Nasty Gal. In connection, a leather jacket has been used as the background cover of the book.

All of the book covers follow the same aesthetic by using the same colour scheme pink, black and white. They also follow the same aesthetic due to all of the backgrounds of the covers being scans of different materials relating to fashion. Didot is also the font used throughout all book covers as it is founded in Vogue magazine. This relates the covers to fashion even more and corresponds to the fact Tamara Mellon and Alexa Chung have worked for Vogue. All of the following book covers have been printed on a high gloss paper stock. This links to most fashion magazines including Vogue which also uses gloss paper for their covers.
